*Softball Games Update:
The game between the Lady Panthers and Concordia Academy was an exciting one. The Panthers took a quick 4-0 lead and scored one more run in the third, and then were silenced. Concordia scored two runs in the third, and one in the fifth, and sixth. Going into the top of the 7th inning with the score 5-4, and Concordia’s top of the order up, pitcher Bella Mehrkens threw three pitches to aid in the 1, 2, 3 out inning with plays 5-3 (Noelle “Scrappy Doo” Douglas to Rylie “Right Stuff” Mielke), 5-3, and F9 (Brooklyn “Dodger” Horton). Both Madisyn “Mad Dash” Collins and Lauren “Freight Train” Pokrandt went 3 for 4 and Bella pitched a great game and was backed by great defense from all positions.

The third close game in a row did not turn into a win for the Lady Panthers…well, the PI Panthers that is. Saturday’s game against the Century Panthers started with a 3 run lead in the first as McKenna “Mighty” Mathison hit a dinger over the left field fence. One more run was added in the second. The PI Panthers had more hits after the second inning, but just couldn’t string them together. Bella “The Bruiser” Mehrkens went 2 for 2 with a double and 2BB; Noelle “Scrappy Doo” Douglas went 1 for 4 with a double, a run scored, and an RBI; McKenna “Mighty” Mathison went 1 for 4 with a homerun, and 2 RBI; Rylie “The Right Stuff” Mielke went 1 for 3 with a double and stolen base, and Haylee “Battling” Bruske batted 1.000 with a pinch hit single in the top of 7. Final score PI: 4 Century: 5

The committee will work together with a Prom advisor on many details such as finding a DJ, venue, caterer, decorations, theme, and much much more. Basically, the committee gets to create the whole prom for their class from scratch, work together and throw a night to remember.

School Day
In order to make transportation work with new restrictions, the 5-12 school day has been adjusted. Class starts at 8:45am and ends at 3:15pm. We also have to limit extra traffic in the building. To limit this traffic the doors will open at 8:30am and students will need to leave the building no later than 3:30pm. The doors will then remain locked for the evening. Students are not allowed in the building before 8:30am or after 3:30pm.

All students (grades K-12) and staff will be required to wear a mask (Executive Order 20-81).  The Pine Island District will supply one mask to each student enrolled in the Hybrid Model.

To check attendance and final course grades, you will need to know your Skyward login. Skyward will also be used to schedule conferences this year and view your student’s homeroom teacher and course schedule. You can find the link to Skyward at the bottom of the school district website.
