Good afternoon everyone! Unfortunately it has been quite some time since I have sat down at the computer and posted anything on here. This school year has definitely thrown some curve balls at us, primarily the Covid-19 issue. Needless to say I was pretty sad when I found out my first year as the SRO for the school was being cut short and we wouldn't be returning from spring break to finish out the year. It felt really odd not getting a chance to actually say a proper "goodbye and have a good summer" to our students, especially the seniors that are headed off for new adventures this upcoming fall. From what I heard, it sounds like our students did an awesome job with the distance learning and were able to maintain their grades and attendance. Not to mention the staff and faculty were rockstars with this distance learning program and really pulled it off in what short time they had to prep for it.  Thankfully I got the chance to attend graduation and got to lead our parade through town and watch our seniors get their diplomas. I have to say our superintendent, principals, and the rest of the staff involved with the planning really put together a graduation ceremony our students, families, and townspeople will not soon forget. Our students had a blast driving the golf carts and the families did a terrific job at enjoying the ceremony while maintaining the social distance restrictions. I wish nothing but the best for our seniors who will be headed off to college, jobs, military, and so on this upcoming fall, it was great getting to watch you all work so hard!  I plan on posting blogs throughout the summer, so I do hope you all visit my page from time to time to read these. Even though I will not be working from the school over the summer, I still am around Monday through Friday if you have any questions or need to speak with me about anything.  Thanks all!

9/11
Even though it has been 18 years, we still never forget that day. Even though it seems like yesterday, I was in Mr. Clark's 6th grade reading class when our school received the news that the towers had been attacked. We spent the rest of the day in school watching the news, we never opened another book, took another test, or talked about our school work in any way until the morning of the 12th. Like I said, it feels like it was just yesterday. I still picture it in my mind, where I was sitting in class and the look on my teacher's face when he hung up his office phone. Of course, our students today were too little or weren't even born yet when disaster struck. This morning before classes started, took a moment of silence to remember the men and women who lost their lives, along with those who responded and helped the recovery process. Make sure to tell your kids about that day when they are old enough to understand what happened. Keep the memory of all those people alive.

Students and staff! We are about 15 minutes away from our first week of school coming to an end, in which our students will get to enjoy a three day weekend. Not to mention our staff ;)  My first full week of being in the school was a good one and luckily I did not have to handle any major problems, only a couple of small ones to deal with. Im sure as the school year progresses more and more problem solving moments will be happening. This week I had a chance to sit in during a meeting with all our high school grades and today I got to be a part of our middle school first week of school assembly. Next week I will be able to meet our entire elementary student population at their start of school assembly.  It has been great to meet n greet with a number of our students out in the hallways and during lunch, I hope to continue to get to know our students and staff more as the year continues. Everyone have a safe weekend and enjoy the holiday!

Good morning everyone! It is August 28 today and school has been in session for 3 days now with grades 7 thru 12. We will be welcoming the rest of our students back to class tomorrow morning. I have been in the SRO spot for about a week's time now and so far I am really enjoying it. Luckily I have not found myself having to deal with any major problems, but a couple small ones here and there. I certainly welcome all students to stop in and introduce themselves! Starting yesterday, I will be sitting in with Principal Schiltz's meetings he is having with each high school grade. We will also be having our open house for Pre-K tomorrow night at the elementary school from 5 PM to 7 PM. We will have Law Enforcement, Fire, and Ambulance vehicles there for the kids to tour.  Until next time, have a good one!
