Directors Welcome

Hello, My name is Kelly Barker. I am the Early Childhood Coordinator and Community Education Director here at Pine Island School and I have worked here since 1999.  I graduated from Gustavus Adophus College in 1990 with a degree in K-12 Art Education.  I went on to work 6 years as a Head Start teacher for Three River CAP Agency, serving children in Goodhue, Rice, and Wabasha counties.  During this time I developed a love for pre-school and went on to Crown College to become licensed in the areas of Pre-K, Family Education and Parent Education.  In 1999 I was hired at Pine Island School.   I coordinate the preschool programs for children ages birth to five. I am also the parent facilitator for Early Childhood Parent Education. Some other areas I oversee include the ice rinks, Adult Basic Education, School Age Childcare, Summer Reading and Outreach Programming, and special events, like Breakfast with Santa, Harvest Party, Bike Rodeo, and the Panther Holiday Helpers Project.  In December of 2013, I graduated from Moorhead State University with my Masters of Science in the area of Educational  Leadership.
