About the Director

About the teacher:

Mr. Jeffrey began working in the Pine Island School District in 2015. He currently conducts/teaches Concert Choir, Cantate, Gold Choir, Maroon Choir, Panther Choir, and Grade 5 Music. He also directs extracurricular ensembles including Pinely Tuned, Men’s Ensemble, and Women’s Ensemble.

Mr. Jeffrey earned his M.A. in Teaching, Vocal Music K-12, from the University of St. Thomas and his B.A. in Music, magna cum laude from St. Olaf College. In addition to his M.A., Mr. Jeffrey completed his Level 1 Kodály Certification through the Kodály Institute of the University of St. Thomas where he is also working on a second master's degree in music education.

In addition to teaching in Pine Island, Mr. Jeffrey has directed the Treble Choir and the Concert Choir of the Northfield Youth Choirs. He also served as musical assistant to Dr. Angela Broeker and substitute conductor of the Chamber Singers at the University of St. Thomas, where he helped to prepare the choir for its performance at the 2014 North Central Division ACDA Conference.

Mr. Jeffrey is an active vocalist in the choral community of the Twin Cities. He served as Tenor Section Leader for Magnum Chorum, an auditioned 60-voice choir established in the a cappella choral tradition of St. Olaf College, and he was Director of the Academy of Voices, a St. Paul-based a cappella chamber choir. He currently sings tenor with the Pop-Up Choir, a project choir based in Minneapolis, where he is also the tenor section leader.

Mr. Jeffrey is a member of the American Choral Director’s Association (ACDA), the Minnesota Choral Director’s Association (ACDA-MN) where he serves as Southeast District Chair, Chorus America, and Pi Kappa Lambda (National Music Honor Society).
